| The handy plastic grocery bag | Recycle and re-use |
Costs involved in making |
|||
There is more than just the cost to make the plastic bag to think about. The materials that are used to make the plastic bag include oil, gas and the man hours to make them. The manufacturing plants that actually make the plastic bags are putting pollution into the air – these are all the important reasons as to why we should recycle and find new uses for our plastic bags as often as possible. You might find it hard to believe, but in one country alone, more than two billion plastic bags are thrown away every year. Imagine the ten or fifteen you have in your cupboard or in your pantry, can you imagine how big of a pile two billion really is? Now take that same two billion a year for one country and multiply that by the number of countries that are using plastic daily for shopping bags and you have a heck of a lot of plastic going back into the soil, but in the form of a landfill. Let’s start reusing our plastic bags now and save money, our soil, our earth and everything that goes into making that little plastic bag! |
